ANKLE ULTRASOUND (UNILATERAL)
Service Description
Musculoskeletal ultrasound of the ankle is a dynamic, non-invasive, high-resolution study that allows real-time visualization of the tendons, ligaments, bursae, and joints of the ankle and proximal foot. It is the examination of choice for diagnosing sports injuries, sprains, persistent pain, inflammation, or functional limitations, providing precise anatomical and functional information without radiation. During the examination, a systematic evaluation of the main anatomical structures is performed: Peroneus longus and brevis tendons. Tibialis posterior tendon and flexor hallucis longus tendon. Tibialis anterior tendon and extensors. Medial (deltoid) and lateral collateral ligaments. Taliperotal joint. Retrocalcaneal bursa and Achilles tendon. This study allows for the identification of: Sprains and ligament injuries. Tendinitis or tenosynovitis. Partial or complete tendon ruptures. Retrocalcaneal or pre-Achilles bursitis. Muscle tears or local inflammation. Joint effusions and synovitis. Intra-articular calcifications or loose bodies. Most frequent clinical indications: Ankle pain or swelling following trauma or sprain. Persistent pain or a feeling of instability. Suspected Achilles tendon rupture. Evaluation of tendinitis or bursitis due to overuse. Diagnosis of sports or work-related injuries. Pain in the hindfoot or malleolar region. Post-surgical or rehabilitation follow-up. Advantages of the study: Does not use radiation. Allows for real-time dynamic evaluation. Identifies lesions that may go unnoticed on X-rays. Ideal for therapeutic monitoring and post-treatment follow-up. Preparation: No fasting or special preparation is required. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and easily removable footwear. The exam is performed using high-resolution ultrasound and may include color Doppler mode to assess inflammatory or vascular processes. 馃搷 Schedule your musculoskeletal ankle ultrasound and get a reliable, fast, and radiation-free diagnosis of ligament or tendon injuries.
