Musculoskeletal ultrasound of the ankle is a dynamic, non-invasive, high-resolution study that allows real-time visualization of the tendons, ligaments, bursae, and joints of the ankle and proximal foot. It is the examination of choice for diagnosing sports injuries, sprains, persistent pain, inflammation, or functional limitations, providing precise anatomical and functional information without radiation. During the examination, a systematic evaluation of the main anatomical structures is performed: Peroneus longus and brevis tendons. Tibialis posterior tendon and flexor hallucis longus tendon. Tibialis anterior tendon and extensors. Medial (deltoid) and lateral collateral ligaments. Taliperotal joint. Retrocalcaneal bursa and Achilles tendon.
