FOOT ULTRASOUND (UNILATERAL)
Service Description
Musculoskeletal ultrasound of the foot is a dynamic, non-invasive, high-resolution study that allows real-time visualization of the tendons, muscles, ligaments, bursae, and joints of the foot. It is a fundamental tool for diagnosing plantar pain, sports injuries, deformities, masses, and inflammatory processes, providing detailed images without radiation exposure. During the examination, a complete evaluation of the most relevant anatomical structures is performed: Plantar fascia and aponeurosis. Extensor and flexor tendons. Metatarsophalangeal and interphalangeal joints. Tibialis posterior, peroneal, and flexor hallucis longus tendons. Retrocalcaneal bursa and distal Achilles tendon. Intermetatarsal spaces (to rule out Morton's neuroma). Ultrasound allows the identification of: Plantar fasciitis and fascial tears. Tendinitis or tenosynovitis. Bursitis or soft tissue inflammation. Ligamentous or capsular injuries. Cysts, neuromas, or soft tissue masses. Foreign bodies or local infections. Degenerative or inflammatory joint changes. Most frequent clinical indications: Heel or sole pain. Tingling or burning sensation between the toes. Swelling or palpable mass. Pain after physical activity or sports injuries. Suspected Morton's neuroma or plantar fasciitis. Post-surgical monitoring or rehabilitation. Evaluation of flat feet, high arches, or structural deformities. Advantages of the study: Does not use radiation. Allows for real-time dynamic evaluation. Accurate diagnosis and bilateral comparison. Ideal for therapeutic monitoring and clinical follow-up. Preparation: No fasting or special preparation required. It is recommended to wear easily removable footwear. The exam is performed using high-resolution ultrasound and can be supplemented with color Doppler to detect inflammatory or vascular processes. 📍 Schedule your musculoskeletal ultrasound of the foot and get a reliable diagnosis for your tendon, joint, or plantar fascia injuries.
