Service Description

Wrist musculoskeletal ultrasound is a dynamic, non-invasive, high-resolution study that allows for a detailed evaluation of the tendons, joints, ligaments, and nerves of the wrist. It is an ideal examination for diagnosing pain, inflammation, functional limitations, or overuse injuries in both athletes and manual laborers. During the study, a systematic examination of the following structures is performed: Extensor and flexor tendons of the wrist and fingers. Extensor and flexor retinacula. Radiocarpal and midcarpal joints. Scapholunate and lunotriquetral ligaments. Median nerve in the carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve. Bursas and synovial sheaths. Ultrasound allows for the detection of: Tenosynovitis and tendinitis (De Quervain's tenosynovitis, extensor tendons, flexor tendons). Carpal tunnel syndrome. Tendon ruptures or tears. Synovial cysts or ganglions. Ligament injuries or synovitis. Inflammatory changes in rheumatoid arthritis or gout. Most frequent clinical indications: Pain or inflammation in the wrist or back of the hand. Paresthesia or numbness of the fingers (carpal tunnel syndrome). Palpable mass or suspected synovial cyst. Sports or repetitive work-related injuries. Limited range of motion or loss of strength. Post-surgical or therapeutic follow-up. Advantages of the study: Does not use radiation. Allows for real-time dynamic evaluation. Enables comparison of both sides. Ideal for monitoring the progression of injuries or rehabilitation treatment. Preparation: No fasting or special preparation is required. It is recommended to arrive without creams or lotions on the area to be examined.
