CAROTID - VERTEBRAL DOPPLER ULTRASOUND
Service Description
Carotid and vertebral Doppler ultrasound is a non-invasive vascular study that uses high-resolution ultrasound with color and spectral Doppler technology to analyze blood flow to the brain through the carotid and vertebral arteries. This examination allows for the detection of blockages, stenosis, atherosclerotic plaques, or hemodynamic abnormalities that may increase the risk of stroke. During the evaluation, the common, internal, and external carotid arteries, as well as the vertebral arteries on both sides of the neck, are examined, assessing flow velocity, vessel morphology, and the presence of turbulence or plaques. The degree of stenosis is quantified, vertebrobasilar flow abnormalities are identified, and possible occlusions or plaque detachment (arterio-arterial embolism) are detected. Most frequent clinical indications: Dizziness, vertigo, or transient loss of vision. Episodes of weakness or numbness on one side of the body. During the evaluation, the common, internal, and external carotid arteries, and the vertebral arteries on both sides of the neck are examined. Suspected or monitored carotid or vertebrobasilar artery disease. Prevention or follow-up of stroke (CVA/TIA). Patients with risk factors: hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, smoking, family history. Post-endarterectomy or carotid stent placement follow-up. Carotid Doppler ultrasound is a fast, painless, and radiation-free method, ideal for both preventive diagnosis and vascular monitoring. It allows for the identification of lesions before they produce serious symptoms, making it a key tool in stroke prevention. Preparation: No fasting or special preparation is required. It is recommended to avoid wearing necklaces or tight-fitting clothing around the neck. 馃搷 Schedule your carotid-vertebral Doppler ultrasound and evaluate the health of your cerebral arteries with high-precision vascular ultrasound.
